Giving it 5 stars because the deal I got on it is absolutely insane, but oh my god has this been an annoying experience. First there were constant Wi-Fi issues. Every time I went into a new environment I had restart it as many as FIFTEEN TIMES before it connected to the Wi-Fi. I got so stressed out in a coffee shop one time that I just started crying after an hour of trying to get it to connect. It isn’t RGB like the listing had said, though that’s far from a big deal, and I probably should have taken it upon myself to message the seller and make sure— they seem to have a good reputation and almost definitely would have disclosed that to me (And there’s a non zero chance I read the listing wrong).
It’s been about eight months, and the Wi-Fi works much better. I thought I’d have to replace the Wi-Fi hardware, but the issues eventually just went away after a couple of updates and calls to Lenovo support. It came with an active warranty, which is really great in the event that I do need to repair it. There are times where the computer just gets in the mood to be unbelievably slow for absolutely no reason, takes 30-45 minutes to restart, and goes back to normal for the next several weeks or couple of months. I’ve had some minor issues with the mousepad as well, though those have also seemingly resolved over time. The computer runs well otherwise and I’ve been fairly happy with it. I don’t think I’ll be keeping it as long as anticipated, but it’s far from the end of the world. I know that I’ve complained a lot, but I got it for about ~$850, which is I think the best price I’ve seen for this from a legitimate seller and I believe a new model goes for about $1500 or so. I did want to leave a transparent review, though. I was unfamiliar with gaming laptops when I purchased this and I didn’t fully understand just how much they retail for. I’m sure there are other people in my position who are buying third party so they can get a better deal and don’t know what to expect.
I have some anger issues that can quickly be escalated by petty annoyances like this, but someone who’s more normal will probably not have as hard of a time with it. Overall, I’m getting much more than what I paid for and am happy with the laptop. I’m an engineering student and it’s been great to have laptop that can run software like AutoCAD with relative ease. Overall, happy with the experience. I’d buy from the seller again… though I’d definitely fork over a little more money next time!
TLDR: for those unfamiliar with gaming laptops, set reasonable expectations for a significant discount and ask the seller any questions you have before buying.
